Physic Garden Update from Jo Homfray Chair, The Cowbridge Physic Garden Dear Friends, I am sure you will be wanting to know how the Physic Garden is faring since its doors had to be closed as a result of the Coronavirus Covid 19. It certainly seems an age since we were all able to mix and socialise together, and the AGM in March seems a world ago now! All Volunteers have been anxious about the Garden - it is very dear to us, and we have been worried about its well being! As we all know, nature takes over very quickly when things are untended, and we had visions of creeping in to find our very own Secret Garden in the centre of Cowbridge! The Vale Council declared that we were welcome to start going in again last week as long as we kept our distance from each other and only went in small groups with discretion at the fore. So a week ago our key tentatively turned the lock and we opened the door...... and lo and behold the Garden was looking great! I think weed growth has been greatly hampered by lack of rain, and the most noticeable things were the length of the grass on the lawn and the rather murky looking water in the fountain! These can soon be remedied! Of course in our absence the birds, insects, mice, toads, and any other creatures great and small will have loved the place and had a chance to call it their own for six weeks. I hope we persuade them to stay! Meanwhile we have begun to weed, hoe, plant and water so that by the time it opens again for everyone we hope it will be looking just as special and that you will enjoy coming back to savour its beauty yet again.
